Cropper Wedding Album
So how was the wedding for you!? It was so perfectly Roy and Hayley, wasn't it? The joy on Roy's face when he saw the train and shovelled the coal to make it go! The worry when he realized his bride was missing! The love in both of their faces as they took their vows and made it legal! It wasn't without it's drama, of course, with the Websters and Peacocks at each other's throats. There's nothing like Sally Webster when she's got a vendetta on and it looks like Dev is just as bad! Neither of them has all the information, of course. We know Simon and Aadi were playing when Aadi got hurt and Simon is clearly feeling guilty, poor little thing.
But the wedding... ah, the wedding... If you want to see the screen captures and photos, go over here. There were far too many of them to take up bags of room here! Photos, of course, copyright ITV.

What a wunnerful wedding!!! Except for Clair outing the girls (really, not nice), moaning Mary, and missing spouses Steve, Dierdre and Eddie, all of which can be excused for dramatic and contract purposes, it was a winner. I loved the whole train ride, the walk down the aisle to an upbeat gospelly choir, Roy's speech, John's good cheer, the confetti, Chesney getting the girl, Kirk getting the girl, heck, even last night's hilariously sedate stag night and literary society meeting. Just may have to keep this one.
Now, lets see if Leanne can get through to Simon, and hope that Kevin doesn't have a heart attack. Very touching ending with Sophie & Kev.
It would've been quite sweet if Christian (Hayley's son) had turned up for just this episode, but overall it was a really good wedding (it's not a Corrie marriage if something isn't going wrong).
Yes, loved the coal-shovelling and the Sophie/Kev scene - but missed Deirdre, Eddie, and Steve ;(
Glad Christian didn't turn up, Rachel, because that plot strand was left so unresolved (as such things in real life often are) that his presence would have overshadowed everything else in Hayley's big day, as well as the comic tone. A return by Christian would be a whole new plot thread in itself. I have no objections to them returning to it, but not during the wedding. Plus how would he have known?
My favourite part of the episode was the Corrie cast singing in the coach while Norris was in character, moaning.
It reminded me the 1969 coach crash so it felt nice to me (:
And why is it always characters that are leaving (Claire, julia Haworth, Natasha) get great months leading up to their departure.
I was not surprised Deirdre didn't go since she's not talking to Ken but I am surprised Eddie wssn't there with Anna. As far as Steve goes, where was he anyway? He wasn't in the bar helping his mother who then re-hired Michelle seeing as she was on her own, or with Betty who probably isn't a lot of help. No Ciaran, no Sean either.
Great wedding. Roy's speech was very nice. And Emily did look nice. I thought it was odd that missing spouses were there, and where was Gail? Didn't she co-work with Roy for a while?
I get the feeling that the Christian story is one that many writers, and the current producer, are none too proud of. It distorted Hayley's past and led to nothing but heartache.
Personally, I loathed it..
Yes, shame about all the 'missing' characters as mentioned above (yes, Gail should definitely have been there - she and Roy owned the cafe together for a while and Hayley is godmother to Bethany) - and the list should include Carla after all that she and Hayley have recently gone through together. But it was great fun, particularly Hayley's stance on the pump wagon.
Extra cast?
Once you factor in summer holidays, and the high cost per cast member for long location shoots, I think it becomes obvious.
Loved the wedding but particularly sally webster's dress. Anyone know where she got it from/
