I think it was a bit before 1985.
The finished set was officially actually opened by the Queen in the Autumn of 1982 and it has been used for the shooting of all external scenes in Coronation Street since this date.
No, this was definitely around 1985. These photos were taken from the grounds of the Museum of Science and Industry. The Baker Street set is already built and being used (Sherlock Holmes was made from 1984 onwards), hence the "Quiet Please" sign.
This glimpse of the Street was all you could get back then, until the opening of the Studio Tours in 1989.
I have similar photos, taken in 1984 (must scan them in sometime!)
It was 1985. I took the photos!
