Celebrate Granada TV's 60th birthday with Corrie and much more!

If you're going to be in Manchester this month, here are details of some great sessions celebrating the very best of Granada TV in their 60th anniversary year.

GRANADA KIDS TV RETROSPECTIVE
Saturday, December 3rd 13:30
Granada created a number of memorable kids TV shows over the years, providing a platform to many who would go on to shape television for the past 25 years.  Join us for a curated session of extracts and rarities, including Clapperboard, the Owl Service, Hickory House, Picture Box, Ghosts of Motley Hall and Children’s Ward. You’ll be in the company of a host of special guests including Clapperboard’s Chris Kelly, Children’s Ward writer Russell T Davies, producer Kieran Roberts and director Beryl Richards and actors Andrew Knott and Jane Danson, now better known for the History Boys and as Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby.

WORLD IN ACTION
Sunday, December 11th 18:15

Join legendary camera operator George Jesse Turner for a celebration of Granada’s World in Action and a discussion around what made this show an essential part of our national conversation for 35 years.  Featured complete editions specially selected by George and never since repeated or made commercially available include ‘Last week in Biafra’ (1969) and ‘Colonel Rauff’s Refuge’ (1983).   With thanks to the BFI National Film Archive.

CORONATION STREET 2016
Monday, December 12th 18:20

No exploration of Granada would be complete without a celebration of Granada’s most enduring drama in the week of Coronation Street’s 56th birthday. It’s your chance to raise a glass to the Nation’s longest running and best loved soap in the company of past and present writers, production team and cast members as we showcase archive gems and provide a sneak peek at what’s to come on the Weatherfield cobbles for Christmas.  Special guests include writers Debbie Oates and John Stevenson, executive producer Kieran Roberts and star of the cobbles Sally Dynevor.
