The nominatons for this year's British Soap Awards will be released tomorrow, Monday 30 March. The awards ceremony will be held in Manchester again later this year.
However, this year, there will be no categories for sexiest male and sexiest female. About blinking time too!
There will be a new award category to celebrate “issue-led” story-lines.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “It was time to have a bit of a freshen-up. The awards will still be a big, fun celebration but we’ve found a lot of the actors and actresses are a bit embarrassed by the ‘sexiest’ tag.

Absolutely correct. It was an obnoxious category.
I could never understand how a society who looked down and got rid of Miss World and other beauty pageants as they didnt really fit in with today's mindsets still had a soap award for "sexiest" whatever??? Or is it because now Michelle Keegan has left there isnt anyone that could reasonably be nominated?
It might as well have been called the Michelle Keegan award anyway!
As someone who hates issue-led stories, I don't think much of the replacement.
Let's hope this puts an end to "sexy and dangerous" newcomers who always fail on both scores
Good news. Must've been embarrassing to win one of those. But not keen on the introduction of an 'issue-led' award either! :/
It makes me nervous to think that the possibility of such an award will have tptb and their minions scrambling in search of "issues".
