Corrie weekly awards for February 3 - 7

Phrase of Doom award: Maria: "With me and Marcus it's all about trust" (cue the doom music) Carla to Michelle: "If he was having an affair, you'd be the last to know"

Enemy Mine award: Norris. Between the overdue bills and the gossip mongering, it's no wonder he hasn't got any friends, only a few people that tolerate him.

Airhead award: In the great tradition of airheads like Candice Stowe and Rosie Webster, Ladies and Gentlemen, I offer you...Steph! If she can't chew with her mouth open, how is she supposed to breathe?

Speechless award:
Norris. Rob certainly wiped that smugness out of him by paying the paper bill with pennies and those vague threats of GBH certainly put the icing on the cake.

Ring of Truth award: Tracy can hear that little bit of honesty in Norris' gossip about Rob. She tried to believe Rob's lies but the gig was up. She also heard it in Tina's words about not letting Rob go over such a minor incident.

Hard Truth award: Mary pointed out Norris' good points but also his bad ones in brutal honesty.

Continuity fluff up: Maddie sent Sophie a text, and Sophie recognised the number. Later, Maddie borrowed Sophie's phone to call about her brother, not saying her own phone was missing, left behind or out of top-up. Owen said the money was transferred yesterday, just didn't show up online. But he had been on to the bank by phone several times during the day. Why didn't they say the money was there and not online then?

Pretentious award:
Ritchie the "rock star" wearing sunglasses indoors.

Den of Iniquity award: The Bistro. I don't know about iniquity but there's constant fighting and shouting.

Sophisticate Award: Deirdre loves pork scratchings with her wine. Who needs cheese?

Lines of the week:

Sally "I'm a thinker. So many thoughts running round in me head, it's like a curse"
Rita to Norris "You're making enemies" Norris "Occupational hazard" (no, it's a Norris hazard)
Rob "Why pick a fight?" Tracy "I *like* a fight!"
Tracy to Tina in Peter's earshot "I didn't think you'd sink so low as to chase after somebody else's bloke" (cough)
Mary "You can be the most small minded, despicable busybody. Forever sticking your nose in where it's not wanted and you delight in causing upset and distress whenever you can"  and "It is a very foolish man that will risk the wrath of Tracy Barlow and you, my friend, have stirred up a hornet's nest"
Deirdre after Tracy describes the other woman as someone that hates her guts "That narrows it down"
Owen "I should have followed my instincts" (and you're going to pay for it)
Sophie "Burly? Not girly?" (and you've been outed!)
Michelle "Pleading guilty never got anybody off"
Tracy "I don't let bygones be bygones"
Michelle to Steve: "You have never found me funny!" (Nothing funny about you, that's why)
Michelle "Sex is one thing but he actually likes her!"

Soon forgotten award: Hailey wasn’t even mentioned this week, not even by Carla – you would have thought someone would have at least told Tina of her demise.

Bad Penny award; Tina as above, who cares that she is back, big hoo ha about her going, now we are about to get another one with Peter “begging” her not to go to THAT London. At least we know when she is bumped off she wont be back yet again, thoroughly bored by it all

Sudden memory lapse award: Michelle was supposed to be a dynamic businesswoman who pulled Underworld back from the brink of bankruptcy on a number of occasions – now we are to believe that this highly efficient and capable woman just forgot to order food for the funeral of a close neighbour and pub regular whose death was the talk of the street at the time???

Totally irresponsible award: As Frosty put on another post, why would Anna who hardly knows Phelan and already is suspicious of him pitch up at his house all alone to “apologise”. Even Mrs Windbag isn’t that stupid and naïve surely?

Loose knocker elastic award: Didn’t take much for Andrea who is supposed to have designs on his best friend to jump in the sack with Lloyd. Andrea looks about the same age as Jenna, Lloyd’s daughter. This is a grinning bunny boiler mark Frosty’s words but Michelle is always so hateful we don’t see past that.

Put a sock in it award: Or a knitted hat – SHUT UP Sophie, so fed up with your whining moaning and mumbling and stalking the young homeless girl.

Put them right award: Jason’s dad is right, why does Dev expect ‘mates rates’? He is trying to run a business and would soon be bankrupt if he does this and are they mates anyway? Thought they were just neighbours.

Absent again award: Where is Liz again? ?

Totally agree about Anna. Totally stupid or desperately naive to go to Phelan's like that.

Doubly stupid move for someone was once a scammer herself and is well acquainted with the business practices of Len Windass.

Dumbest prop...Tina wandering around with a houseplant..what for? They can't write any lines for her now? Want this plant? The sooner she's gone the better.
Most repeated line: I'm worried about her/you..about Maddeh to whomever will listen. I don't give a toss. I hope this doesn't carry on - it's just not worth the time watching. Sally is a moron running around after her ignorant crude daughter who is also a moron running around after an ignorant crude girl who has repeatedly told her (Sophie) to bog off and mind her own business.

So many times we have plot devices instead of authenticity. Anna has to go to Phelan's house otherwise we wouldn't seem him try it on with her. Tina has to come back to Weatherfield so she can be bumped off.

I said during the Roy/Haley story that it was a hypocritical move on the part of tptb to fawn all over the Croppers. If Julie H hadn't wanted to leave, the Croppers would have been on the back row forever just like they've always been. Hopefully, Roy's return will jog a few memories.

Re: Andrea, the old saying goes: 'If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.' We've had a strong hint from Eileen that Andrea's a bad'un. She's clearly after Steve who's got a partner and she doesn't care about Lloyd's feelings. I think Liz will suss her and send her packing, with Steve saying that he couldn't do it to a mate. He and Michelle may break up but Steve won't be with Andrea.

Any idea wtf happened to Liz? She just up an disappeared or was there a mention of where she'd got off to?
